My last day in paradise to do some more playing in my journal. It's sad that these last few days went by so quickly, there really is just never enough time. I am hoping that I'll continue even once I'm back to the daily routines and stresses of work to find some time to sit down and do up a page every now and again. I do miss expressing myself thru my art. I just will have to make a conscious effort to do so. So with that being said... here are my newest pages that I worked on today. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Owd-VMb9qRs/V75WPMl5XgI/AAAAAAAABsc/OXySH6kRm6gYvhRx8YdV31OiRGpUECfhACLcB/s1600/2016-08-24%2B12.59.58.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Owd-VMb9qRs/V75WPMl5XgI/AAAAAAAABsc/OXySH6kRm6gYvhRx8YdV31OiRGpUECfhACLcB/s400/2016-08-24%2B12.59.58.png" width="278" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love this page. I found myself the cutest napkins in the dollar store the other day and thought... yeh, I want to do a page with these images. Dyan's quote just goes perfect with this page. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Not totally sure that I am done this one yet, but for the time being it was time to pack it away and start loading up my product so I'm ready to go in the morning. This page kind of suits me. I can be a bit of a rebel sometimes. I was having a hard time coming up with an idea for this page. So I used my tie dyed leggings as my inspiration for the black and white background pattern. LOL Sometimes you just have to look in the strangest places for ideas. LOL <br />
<br />
Well, this has been fun. Send me some love and let me know what you think. :) Hope to see you soon! xo<br />

Well, A near whole year has gone by since I've taken the time to enjoy my art again. I made myself a promise that I wouldn't let life and work get in the way of my creativity. Hmmmm... need to work a little harder at that. I'm currently at the cabin for my last chance get away this year before work gets into crazy mode. One more day of bliss here, the silence and peacefulness of the trees, the lake, the wildlife. I honestly could use another week up here but alas, that isn't to be this time. Oh well... back to reality in a couple more days. I at least had an opportunity to get creative for a few days. Sadly, the person who was my reason for starting art journaling passed away a couple of days ago. Totally rocked the world with the news of her passing. Christy Riopel, was my teacher and inspiration. Without her introducing me to this wonderful creative outlet called art journaling, I probably would never have stumbled onto trying it. It has been my creative outlet and release for a few years now. And I owe it to her. Another art journaling acquaintance that I made over the past couple of years also passed away yesterday. Such a sad few days as two beautiful souls are heaven bound. So, a couple of these pages are dedicated to them. <br />
<br />
I'm not going to blog my process this time or do the step by step instructions that I normally do, but I hope you that you will enjoy the pages non the less. As you will notice from page to page, that I do not have a particular style. I just create depending on my mood and inspiration at the time. ;) <br />
<br />
<br />

Getting myself back into the groove. Not my best work, but wetting my feet again so to speak. :)<br />

This LIVE LOVE LAUGH is using Christy's designer stencil that I bought at one of her classes. So this page is in dedication to her. <br />

I love poppies, and Donna Downey poppies are some of my favorites ever. I love this page. It is colorful and inspirational and this page is dedicated to Gail, another art journaling soul that was taken up to God's land. <br />
<br />

<br />
With all the sadness this week, I needed to find some humor in my art. So, I did this page. Dyan's quotes always make me giggle. They are cheeky and fun. <br />

<br />
I have to say... this cracks me up. LOL I love the color, the goofy cat and I can just envision this is what a cat on catnip is thinking. LOL Psychedelic fun. <br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy these pages as much as I did making them. Let's hope that it isn't another year before I create something new again. ;) All the best to all of you and be good to yourselves. Life is too short to not be kind and generous to not just others but to ourselves as well. xoxo <br />

I don't mind getting up first thing in the morning and getting my day started. It actually feels good to get moving and get things started so that you have more time at the end of the day for yourself. However, I draw the line at 630am with the phone ringing and waking me out of a dead sleep. We recently, were broken into at our cabin and stuff was stolen, so we decided best to install a security system. Well, hubby was on days off and at the cabin, I had to work, and early in the morning the phone rings to tell me that an intrusion alert was set off at the place by the monitoring service. My dear hubby, didn't disarm it from the stay setting when he went to bed the night before. He woke up, left to go sit on the deck and have a smoke. :/ So, his cell phone indoors and not turned on, I get the call! Ugh.... disregard the alarm I say.... as I'm watching hubby on the cameras enjoying the fresh outdoors, in his robe, having a coffee and a smoke. No worries I tell them... it's just my husband! Ugh....<br />
<br />
That same afternoon I had a friend come over to learn how to art journal and we made an afternoon of it. As I was walking her thru some techniques I worked on my own page using the same techniques and my choice of stamps reflected how I felt that morning. LOL I can laugh now...<br />
<br />
The page was very simple to do. I used 3 different spray colors. Gesso the page first!!! A pink, a brown and a Dylusions white so that the colors would marble. I used some Archival brown thru a stencil to get some texture. Some washi tape with clocks on it for the time factor. The Tim Holtz coffee stamps and a Dylusions sentiment which perfectly described my mood that morning. LOL I added some Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste thru a stencil for some more texture working around the images and words. I added some Ferro in white for the whipped cream, some stickles for the glitter over top, and some white shimmer pen inside the cup to lighten it from the background. I used some charcoal pencil to shade around the cup and the words. I wanted to frame the page a bit so I smudged some pink, white, and brown gelatos randomly around the edges. <br />
<br />

<br />
I had fun making this to lighten the mood of the morning. :) I think she had fun making her page as well and I look forward to her coming over again and to play some more and I can show her more techniques. <br />
<br />
Since then I was lucky enough to acquire some rolling carts like the Raskogs from Ikea and took a day to get my room somewhat organized and usable again. I am in love with these carts and managed to load up 3 of them completely full without a sliver of space left to share with anything new. LOL Yup, I have an addiction. :) Could be worse right? I work hard so I should be able to play hard. :) Here is my slightly more organized room now with the rolling trays. <br />

I hope you enjoyed my blog entry today and got a good chuckle out of my morning of sleeplessness. When angry or upset, put it to paper and it'll instantly make you feel better. :) Total therapy. LOL <br />

Leave me some lovin and share some of your not so great mornings. ;) Thanks for stopping in. :)<br />

Where the heck has this year gone? My gosh time flies by so fast and I seem to have gotten so little accomplished this year. Today I was caught in a dilemma of do I houseclean, since this is a task I haven't completed in a while, or do I sit down and enjoy some time to myself and work on some art. The answer is pretty obvious considering I'm on here blogging about it! LOL I just got a bunch of new color inks from CTMH, which my GF sells and at our last group we tried a technique that she learnt and I wanted to use the inks in my pages today. I have been so used to using Distress inks, archival inks that I usually forget about my CTMH inks. They are fabulous. <br />
<br />
My first page was using 3 different shades of blue ink and applies them randomly to marble them onto the page. Then I took a stencil with variety sizes of circles and used the pigment white ink to create highlighted circles over the blue. This is the technique she showed us. I added more layers on this page so they do get hidden a bit and are harder to see in the pictures, but they are there. :) Next, I took a swirly stencil and used a mid-tone blue and created some more background swirls for added visual texture. I then took my new Indigo Blue stamps and stamped the ink pot, the feathers and the wording, all from the same stamp set. I pulled out my pan pastels and colored in the ink pot/lid, the feathers with them. I love my pan pastels, they are so much fun to work with. I colored in the little hearts with my white gel pen. I think took a modeling paste and a stencil to create some textural elements on the page. When it dried it picked up the color from below and so it was hard to see it, I added some white pan pastel over the paste to lighten up the look a bit. It's subtle but that is what I wanted. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o8Hfl9kUWDk/VZnLa7DeLCI/AAAAAAAABo4/UaeW8f9g_gQ/s1600/2015-07-05%2B13.49.28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o8Hfl9kUWDk/VZnLa7DeLCI/AAAAAAAABo4/UaeW8f9g_gQ/s400/2015-07-05%2B13.49.28.jpg" width="225" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BDAn7LQw-XI/VZnLbQmKHRI/AAAAAAAABpA/0JzgdjfDjC0/s1600/2015-07-05%2B13.49.39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BDAn7LQw-XI/VZnLbQmKHRI/AAAAAAAABpA/0JzgdjfDjC0/s400/2015-07-05%2B13.49.39.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ogzkvcUMWgI/VZnLbNbyLII/AAAAAAAABpE/s0M3-bkuEKE/s1600/2015-07-05%2B13.49.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ogzkvcUMWgI/VZnLbNbyLII/AAAAAAAABpE/s0M3-bkuEKE/s640/2015-07-05%2B13.49.04.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My next page was using CTMH inks again. I again picked several different tones of oranges and I did the same marbling of colors on the page by applying with a sponge. I then sprayed some water droplets onto the ink so they would react. They react the same way distress inks do which was great! Next, I used a stencil with a darker orange ink and created the swirls. I then stamped the flowers and the words which are from CTMH on the page with an archival ink so that it wouldn't bleed when I add more color. It seemed really bland looking so I grabbed my Dylusion red spray and sprayed a spot into the center of each flower. It still seemed off so I used my sponge a darker orange and added more ink to the background. I took a charcoal pencil and went around each flower. I think took a black fine tip marker and outlined the swirls. They color inside swirls was too light so I took a paint brush and dipped it into the Dylusion red spray and shaded the swirls leaving some of the orange to peek thru. I then took the charcoal pencil again and added some shading around the swirls. I distressed around the edges of the page to frame it. :) <br />
<br />

<br />
Ok, I have to admit this next page is not my favorite by any stretch. I am so challenged when doing faces. I usually use a template or stamp to get me started, but I thought I'd attempt to draw this time round. Yeh, ok... good thing I have a day job! I'll keep practicing. I started this page quite some time ago and wasn't feeling it so I left it partly done, mostly unfinished because I was just frustrated with it. Today, I felt I just couldn't move onto another page without finishing this one first. This is were I left off at...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sx6HpnC8X8A/VZnPbgW_8kI/AAAAAAAABpw/AqSljIlyxy4/s1600/2015-05-24%2B14.16.58.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sx6HpnC8X8A/VZnPbgW_8kI/AAAAAAAABpw/AqSljIlyxy4/s400/2015-05-24%2B14.16.58.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uShBF2Rov3E/VZnPb8Gl4WI/AAAAAAAABp0/tCADlXa28o0/s1600/2015-05-24%2B16.05.57.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uShBF2Rov3E/VZnPb8Gl4WI/AAAAAAAABp0/tCADlXa28o0/s320/2015-05-24%2B16.05.57.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Ughhhh....My proportions are way off. Ok, moving on. I tried to color in some hair using this new paste called Rusty Paper. OMG, horrible. Hated it. It sounded so cool and it was far from. I covered it with white acrylic paint. It had some neat texture underneath from the paste. I added some ink over the white to give the backdrop to the hair some color. I then took a stamp of leaves and created the texture for the hair. Pretty cool! Ok, getting better. I used more CTMH inks to go back over the horrid mess I had made prior. I then took 2 other colors of pink and purple and blended thru a Donna Downey stencil to create the wording. Love how bright the colors are. I contemplated outlining the words but I like how they float over background and kind of melt into the colors. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qtSw7kS3nN4/VZnRMHnY4AI/AAAAAAAABqE/eSK101_ZHV0/s1600/2015-07-05%2B17.55.18.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qtSw7kS3nN4/VZnRMHnY4AI/AAAAAAAABqE/eSK101_ZHV0/s640/2015-07-05%2B17.55.18.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Be kind..... I know her eye is super huge and her lips are way off scale too. Oh well, we all have to start somewhere. LOL Good thing this is just for me and I'm not looking to get an award with this one. LOL And so ends my fun for the day! Time to get things ready for work tomorrow and back to my busy life for another week. ;) <br />
<br />
Thanks for popping in. I love to read any comments you may have, so please leave some love. :) <br />

Well, I'm back from a nice short week away from home. I count my blessing everyday that I have a cabin to go to on my time off where I can unwind from the crazy hustle and bustles of life, work and day to day stresses of the real world. My plan was to spend as much time working on my art journaling as I could while I was up there but the weather was so nice that I spent so much of my time outdoors enjoying the scenery, the wildlife and the sun! :) We had a few rainy days so I used that time to snuggle up indoors and work on some pages. I didn't do any tutorials for these, sorry, but I hope you will enjoy them. :) <br />
<br />
I hit the local craft store while in town picking up some groceries and I found some great goodies to add to my stash. What a nice haul! :) I used some of these great finds on my pages that I did. :)<br />
<br />

I hope you like. If you have any questions please ask and I'll try to answer as best as I can. :) A few beverages of the fermented kind were of assistance in the creative making of these pages. LOL Here are a few photos of my time away in what I think is absolute paradise. :) Sorry about the bug splattered windows of my car. <br />

<br />
Firstly, Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there, whether you are a biological mom, a step-mom, an adoptive mom, or mom to a furry little one. It's a day of pleasure and pain for me. I'm a step-mom to 2 great kids, well adults who have children of their own, but I'm also at a loss of my own mom who passed on almost 15 yrs ago though it seems like only a short while ago sometimes. So, my feelings are bitter sweet on Mother's Day. So, this page is my tribute to my Mom this Mother's Day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YuKzz7cpFhQ/VU_ufqabVpI/AAAAAAAABmE/ZkYwI1zzis0/s1600/2015-05-10%2B14.50.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YuKzz7cpFhQ/VU_ufqabVpI/AAAAAAAABmE/ZkYwI1zzis0/s640/2015-05-10%2B14.50.11.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I started my page by prepping it with gesso. Once dry, I sprayed some sprays on the page to marble them and create some runs. I then did some ghosting with the stencil to create a lightening effect of the roses. My Mom loved roses! The image was very faint and not very detailed so I took the same stencil and went back over the images and used the blending tool and gesso so create a whitening effect. I loved how it turned out. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0abAp5Lr_bs/VU_uiGIp0fI/AAAAAAAABmQ/lz7L_BWdoQc/s1600/2015-05-10%2B14.54.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0abAp5Lr_bs/VU_uiGIp0fI/AAAAAAAABmQ/lz7L_BWdoQc/s320/2015-05-10%2B14.54.04.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
Next, I used the new Tim Holtz distress ink and went once again back over the images and added some of the gorgeous coral color to the roses. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QsD6QtmGKWw/VU_umTl-xmI/AAAAAAAABmk/i4KXi2Tw-3o/s1600/2015-05-10%2B15.00.26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QsD6QtmGKWw/VU_umTl-xmI/AAAAAAAABmk/i4KXi2Tw-3o/s640/2015-05-10%2B15.00.26.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
What to do with the leaves. I wanted something shimmery and beautiful and something that would pop off of the page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7I8yaksFWw/VU_uv-5uSBI/AAAAAAAABnA/SN6s0Wfzr6E/s1600/2015-05-10%2B15.51.06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h7I8yaksFWw/VU_uv-5uSBI/AAAAAAAABnA/SN6s0Wfzr6E/s640/2015-05-10%2B15.51.06.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I colored in the leaves with the embossing pen and some Perfect Pearls in heirloom gold which has this beautiful green tone to it. Love it! I also took a background stamp and lightly and randomly stamped some background imagery with an archival storm grey I think it was. I added a butterfly stamp to the center of the page. The butterfly represents my beautiful Mom. Death isn't the end, it's a metamorphosis of something new, reborn that is free in body, soul and mind. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vis5f1vbt5c/VU_uv241rGI/AAAAAAAABm8/lG6k0_SeAmg/s1600/2015-05-10%2B16.27.40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vis5f1vbt5c/VU_uv241rGI/AAAAAAAABm8/lG6k0_SeAmg/s640/2015-05-10%2B16.27.40.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The roses needed some outline and definition to them. So I used the Glitter brush pens in both white and clear to create a clearer imagery of the flowers. I also used the clear to add a bit of the shimmer to the coral color as well. Soft and subtle and ties in with the shimmer of the leaves. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YZLheoMW9_E/VU_usy1-M9I/AAAAAAAABm0/5NNxupDahxk/s1600/2015-05-10%2B16.45.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YZLheoMW9_E/VU_usy1-M9I/AAAAAAAABm0/5NNxupDahxk/s640/2015-05-10%2B16.45.49.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted a bit more sparkle to the butterfly so I added some Clear Rock Candy stickles to the butterfly. Once it dried, I did go around the butterfly with some white charcoal pencil just to lighten the backdrop a bit so the butterfly popped off the page a bit more. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wdtVNrwmf9s/VU_uyLsMCgI/AAAAAAAABnM/4siCX5qBHK8/s1600/2015-05-10%2B17.34.03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wdtVNrwmf9s/VU_uyLsMCgI/AAAAAAAABnM/4siCX5qBHK8/s320/2015-05-10%2B17.34.03.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
I stamped the sentiment onto some cardstock and cut it out, then misted it with the pink Lyndi spray. I inked around the edges with black archival ink. Then I glued it down and used some charcoal pencil a bit more around the edges so it popped off the page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_zzz5HLLblQ/VU_u0Q1tq8I/AAAAAAAABnU/Nv1wST42GaM/s1600/2015-05-10%2B17.37.17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_zzz5HLLblQ/VU_u0Q1tq8I/AAAAAAAABnU/Nv1wST42GaM/s640/2015-05-10%2B17.37.17.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love you Mom! <br />

Sunday's... my favorite day. Why? Because it is the one day that I can usually dedicate some time to my art journaling. I signed up for another art journal challenge that will be trying to do 2 pages a week. Well... I might have to pick and choose which prompts I will be doing, but I'll try. The first challenge prompt hasn't been given yet so this page was just diving in and doing something, anything. I recently bought a whole load of napkins from the dollar store and so I used one of the napkins today from one of those packs. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z2vAir7hvWM/VUbch3MFx0I/AAAAAAAABks/iV8y3cZRcG0/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.38.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z2vAir7hvWM/VUbch3MFx0I/AAAAAAAABks/iV8y3cZRcG0/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.38.52.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used 4 different colors of gelatos and randomly made swipe marks on the pages and then dampened my finger and blended them out trying not to blend all the colors together to muddle them. The new orange color in the gelato was a lot brighter than I thought it would be so once I had them all blended I took some white acrylic paint and went over top to soften the colors a bit.<br />
<br />
Next, I took my napkin of butterflies and used gel matte medium to seal down the napkin covering both pages, and to white out some of the branches from the napkin at the top of the page I added some more white acrylic paint once the matte medium was dry. Once dry again, I grabbed my Prima stencil in basket weave I believe it was and used Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste randomly on the page trying to avoid going over the butterflies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RnfQBHRGlKM/VUbcxzHZbaI/AAAAAAAABk0/Sfdtc6lwUJE/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.37.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RnfQBHRGlKM/VUbcxzHZbaI/AAAAAAAABk0/Sfdtc6lwUJE/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.37.24.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I grabbed Wendy's new Archival ink colors in Forget Me Not, Tea Rose and Sky blue and a blending tool and lightly blended the colors over the embossing paste to color the raised texture. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5Ma2m3sRpV4/VUbc8Z8TzWI/AAAAAAAABk8/GAQQZVyKjKo/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.34.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5Ma2m3sRpV4/VUbc8Z8TzWI/AAAAAAAABk8/GAQQZVyKjKo/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.34.29.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I then took a Prima stamp for the circled water marks in Forget Me Not archival ink and stamped it randomly around the page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zTTO1KAi65M/VUbdKuZt4JI/AAAAAAAABlE/_ED9M_UQtiw/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.36.43.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zTTO1KAi65M/VUbdKuZt4JI/AAAAAAAABlE/_ED9M_UQtiw/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.36.43.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I used my Posca paint pens and colored in the butterflies in a light blue. I outlined the butterflies with my gel pen. I then took some of my Inktense pencils and added some colored details in a darker blue to create some shading within the butterflies. Next, I went back in with my black gel pen and added a few light sweeps in the wings, and some white touches with a White out pen. I took a charcoal pencil and added some shading around the butterflies. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dn98qT9ZSpo/VUbdXFS3b7I/AAAAAAAABlM/cVkMN1ZwkIo/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.35.35.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dn98qT9ZSpo/VUbdXFS3b7I/AAAAAAAABlM/cVkMN1ZwkIo/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.35.35.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next, I added some color to the branches with my inktense blocks and a small detail brush, then went back over with a charcoal pencil to add in some darker shading. <br />
<br />
I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of white card stock, cut it out and inked the edges with a black archival ink. I then used the rest of the color from my blending tools and blended the Tea Rose and the Forget Me Not onto the paper so it wasn't so white. I glued it down onto the page and then used a charcoal pencil to shade around it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r4SX-Jet_Gg/VUbdl22GtmI/AAAAAAAABlU/QnI2TP0HaLM/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.36.24.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-r4SX-Jet_Gg/VUbdl22GtmI/AAAAAAAABlU/QnI2TP0HaLM/s1600/2015-05-03%2B20.36.24.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I took the Forget Me Not archival ink and distressed the edges of the pages to frame them and add a border. I find that just nicely finished the pages. And whallah... my page is done. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mT0SducUMqY/VUben29-CbI/AAAAAAAABlg/jdY0i8KW3gc/s1600/2015-05-03%2B19.49.08.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mT0SducUMqY/VUben29-CbI/AAAAAAAABlg/jdY0i8KW3gc/s1600/2015-05-03%2B19.49.08.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I can't believe my day is already done and back to work tomorrow. I am starting to count down my days to my holiday. I'm so looking forward to my quiet time at the acreage in amongst the squirrels, the deer, all the birdies chirping each morning and the total serenity of the outdoors and mother nature. I'll be taking my art supplies with me and hope to get lots of pages done while I'm up there. I should be able to get a few blog posts done for you. :) Thanks for stopping in. Please pop down to my comments and let me know you were here. :) It makes my day to hear from you. <3 <br />

A challenging page this one turned out to be, but I'm feeling a bit blue today so the page seemed to make more sense to me and I used my emotions to guide me thru it. <br />
<br />
I did use the Dina Wakley pebble heart stencil to create my hearts. I used Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste to create the texture. Once the paste was thoroughly dry, I sprayed the hearts with Prima color bloom spray in Ginger Coral. I held the nozzle very close to the page as I stood the page up on end so that the color would puddle and run. I didn't want to get a lot of over spray which is why I held it super close to the page to get direct spray to the spot I wanted. The very top left heart I did the book upside down because I didn't want the color to run over top of the eye. I dried the color with my heat tool and then took my pan pastel in the Turquoise extra dark and shaded around each heart and softly blended that color outwards onto the page. I then used pan pastel in Permanent Red extra dark and a larger sponge to create the variegated brick look and to add more depth to the hearts. I added my lashes to the eye, which I almost forgot to do, Oops! The sentiment stamp is from Artistic Outpost Chalkboard Wisdom set. <br />
<br />
Here is my page from my last blog post that left me staring at it for a week... I liked where I was at with this but had no clue where to take it. LOL I'm glad I had the patience to just wait it out until my inspiration or case of the blues hit. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J5fzB1sfGWg/VT1xpVbadBI/AAAAAAAABkA/Wl4HWvryGMM/s1600/2015-04-23%2B10.59.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J5fzB1sfGWg/VT1xpVbadBI/AAAAAAAABkA/Wl4HWvryGMM/s1600/2015-04-23%2B10.59.56.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_dFP8jLkB6M/VT1xun6TQTI/AAAAAAAABkY/kMAZL1ugpYI/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.52.16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_dFP8jLkB6M/VT1xun6TQTI/AAAAAAAABkY/kMAZL1ugpYI/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.52.16.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yw6KUM7lImA/VT1xrevOwjI/AAAAAAAABkI/W9w2lqdjWMI/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.51.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Yw6KUM7lImA/VT1xrevOwjI/AAAAAAAABkI/W9w2lqdjWMI/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.51.56.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The stamps says, You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are Heavy. And, those words are so true. Sometimes I think we find, I find, that we expect someone to react in a certain way, to be supportive when asked to be supportive, and when they aren't it hurts, because deep down I know that I would be that supportive person if asked. But can I expect someone to be supportive if they don't feel it in their hearts to do so? No. And so, that is where this saying rings so true. Let it go...because that burden we put on ourselves to carry that hurt only hurts us and it is not in my rights to ask someone or make them feel bad for not doing something they do not want to do. Let it go...let it go. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QHHKp95Qnds/VT1xsEE1YDI/AAAAAAAABkQ/1FZyNeosHLM/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.52.07.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QHHKp95Qnds/VT1xsEE1YDI/AAAAAAAABkQ/1FZyNeosHLM/s1600/2015-04-26%2B16.52.07.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And with that, my page is complete and my emotions are left on the page. This process really is therapy and I am so glad that I found this outlet in which I can express myself in good times and in sad. :) This page really is putting it out there and wearing my heart on my sleeve. I think this page is probably one of my most vulnerable moments that I am sharing on here, since most of my pages are pretty carefree. Thanks for stopping in and sharing this moment with me. I love to hear from you, so please feel free to leave me a comment so I know you stopped by. :) Hugs. xoxo<br />

I think I hit an artistically mental roadblock on this next page. I thought I had an idea in my mind and it started off ok but I'm now perplexed as to what to do next. I'm not sure why I'm having such a hard time with this one. I've been sitting with the page open looking at me for about a week now. Do you ever get like that? What works for you? I'm seriously considering starting another page and leaving this one until the right feel comes to me. So far, this is as far as I have gone with this page....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y-ciCjnXJUs/VTwtggrvuoI/AAAAAAAABjs/OnApWqFHRWg/s1600/2015-04-23%2B10.59.56.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y-ciCjnXJUs/VTwtggrvuoI/AAAAAAAABjs/OnApWqFHRWg/s1600/2015-04-23%2B10.59.56.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I am kind of thinking of using my Dina Wakely stencil with the heart/stone and using some sort of caption that says something about... When will the walls come down? I've got the concept behind what I want to do but I'm not envisioning exactly how to go about getting the look or feel I want. Ideas are welcome. :) <br />
<br />
And as a side note, I am walking for the Juvenile Diabetes foundation again this year and am actively looking for sponsors to donate to the cause. I have a link posted on my page that will allow anyone who believes in helping find a cure for Diabetes to sponsor me in the walk. This cause means the world to me as I have lost both of my parents to this horrible disease. My Mom passed on in 2000 and my Dad just a short year and half ago, which was so hard as I was there when he took his last breathe. I have seen first hand how debilitating this disease is. So, for those with future needs to help them, myself included, I am actively taking part in this fund raising cause and asking for anyone who feels in their hearts that this is a worthy cause too please help me reach my fundraising goals and donate on my JDRF page. I am wearing my heart on my sleeve and ask for your generosity in helping me raise money for diabetes. <br />
<br />
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to any comments and suggestions you may have with helping me get over my page fright! ;) Gotta love mental blocks. Hope to hear from you! Hugs, xoxo<br />

Time to defrag again and get in touch with my inner Nika Rouss. I watch her tutorials faithfully and love her style. So, this page is inspired by her video's and her talent. Thanks Nika for the inspiration and sharing your video's with us all to learn from. <br />
<br />
I used my Gelato's and my Neocolors predominantly on this page. I also used various washi tape and some Wendy Vecchi embossing paste and stencils. I didn't take photos as I went cause I just sat down and whipped this up and before I new it, I was done and in love with the softness of this page. I hope you like it too! <br />

Where does the time go? So today was my day to take a time out and do a bit of playing. I only had two more double pages to do in my book and then I'll have completed my very first art journal book! I'm so proud of myself, for this has been the first time in a very long time that I have committed to myself to do something that is just for me! The past couple of years have been a real growing period for me and my inner self. And honestly, when I started this book last year I really wasn't sure if I would ever do it long enough to finish it. I did!!! And I'm ready to start on my new book. :)<br />
<br />
My first page is so simple! LOL Honestly, it really was an easy page. Have you ever been into a dollar store and see all of those gorgeous cheap napkins? Yup, I love them napkins. Multi purposed, because I save some for my art and I use the rest. :) So, I buy up bunches of packs of napkins. It really has become somewhat of an addiction. How can they not though? They are so cheap! ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N6yfPqvbybg/VSr83080WOI/AAAAAAAABfI/rQhZxwvYNdA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.17.06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N6yfPqvbybg/VSr83080WOI/AAAAAAAABfI/rQhZxwvYNdA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.17.06.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the package of poppies that I got. I love poppies. I love the colors of these napkins but I decided to change it up a bit by coloring over top of them. First of though, I seperate the very top tissue from the other layers and I seal it down onto the journal pages using a multi matte medium. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-33LFUdO457Q/VSr84QGwbeI/AAAAAAAABfM/vJj_Ki8tWqs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.17.35.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-33LFUdO457Q/VSr84QGwbeI/AAAAAAAABfM/vJj_Ki8tWqs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.17.35.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since there is a gap at the top and bottom of the page I needed to color in that space. So I grabbed my Dylusions paints and a sponge and painted in those spaces. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FDzmJhqr9SY/VSr84Rc65KI/AAAAAAAABfU/zgADZQcj6MQ/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.19.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FDzmJhqr9SY/VSr84Rc65KI/AAAAAAAABfU/zgADZQcj6MQ/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.19.10.jpg" height="400" width="225" /> </a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZMwGk_zA2Q0/VSr87AIgQLI/AAAAAAAABfg/duWd3bN86GY/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.34.25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZMwGk_zA2Q0/VSr87AIgQLI/AAAAAAAABfg/duWd3bN86GY/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.34.25.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, I grabbed my Stabilio Woody crayones to color over top of the images and change them a bit. I wanted red poppies on my page so I made the yellow and the green ones red. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OeCVsnF6p90/VSr9sVkrP_I/AAAAAAAABgg/YMWqXbVvPns/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.34.36.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OeCVsnF6p90/VSr9sVkrP_I/AAAAAAAABgg/YMWqXbVvPns/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.34.36.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1FMCyGC0EQE/VSr8-2s1QtI/AAAAAAAABfo/MBrdgquptjQ/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.55.39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1FMCyGC0EQE/VSr8-2s1QtI/AAAAAAAABfo/MBrdgquptjQ/s1600/2015-04-12%2B10.55.39.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used my charcoal pencil to add some shading below a few of the flowers. I then took my Inktense pencils to color the stems and softly color in the background a bit as well. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZkLhwTq-WX8/VSr9AZH7YZI/AAAAAAAABfw/k8pODfZtANk/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.14.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZkLhwTq-WX8/VSr9AZH7YZI/AAAAAAAABfw/k8pODfZtANk/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.14.11.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wmbv39wxsgM/VSr9FBwm7jI/AAAAAAAABf4/uW_23uEx0Cs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.22.38.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wmbv39wxsgM/VSr9FBwm7jI/AAAAAAAABf4/uW_23uEx0Cs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.22.38.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The bottom portion of the page needed something, a quote, a stamp. I googled poppy sayings and found a quote from a poem by John Keats that I really liked. I used my sketch and wash pencil to hand write it in and then my Fuseball gel pen over top. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GSBxHHh_pqA/VSr9HLWY0yI/AAAAAAAABgA/34P_M1xeP7k/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.48.14.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GSBxHHh_pqA/VSr9HLWY0yI/AAAAAAAABgA/34P_M1xeP7k/s1600/2015-04-12%2B11.48.14.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
I felt it still needed a little some else on the page. I decided to add a bit more blue into the background along the sky line and painted in some rain and dew drops onto the page. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The rest of my afternoon was a mix of my phone ringing off the hook and my trying so hard to finish this last page in my book. I really wanted to get this last page done so I can be onto a new book. It was a huge deal for me to accomplish finishing this one. :) <br />
<br />
There really is nothing super special about this page. It is simply a page of bubbles. LOL However, it did take me several different layers and changing directions before I called it done. The first thing I did was cut out a bunch of circles out of a page I tore from a novel. I gesso'd the page and then took some of my Izinks to create a background using my finger tips like I had learnt in a previous class. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BlmvdS5NSDg/VSsFBimlCzI/AAAAAAAABhM/5mRBmiJ3rbI/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.05.09.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BlmvdS5NSDg/VSsFBimlCzI/AAAAAAAABhM/5mRBmiJ3rbI/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.05.09.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Let's color around them circles...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GxO8edlOZTg/VSsFCHb_NlI/AAAAAAAABhU/Rpez7f4UHdc/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.25.44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GxO8edlOZTg/VSsFCHb_NlI/AAAAAAAABhU/Rpez7f4UHdc/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.25.44.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No clue what to do next. It was like I hit a brick wall and couldn't think of what to do next. All those darn phones call was getting in the way of my creativity. So, I grabbed some white acrylic paint to finger paint over top of the neocolors and blend them together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-81u_rur9Oqs/VSsFB7ESBbI/AAAAAAAABhQ/wHiKTCQYsBs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.31.17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-81u_rur9Oqs/VSsFB7ESBbI/AAAAAAAABhQ/wHiKTCQYsBs/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.31.17.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Oh boy... now what? More circles? Why not... let's just run with it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bVYKoBhZIWA/VSsFD2ZcX8I/AAAAAAAABhk/lsWDhKjxKN4/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.37.29.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bVYKoBhZIWA/VSsFD2ZcX8I/AAAAAAAABhk/lsWDhKjxKN4/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.37.29.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-isirdIKJdMA/VSsFIDwHhXI/AAAAAAAABhs/9a_0DhLtDlo/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.37.42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-isirdIKJdMA/VSsFIDwHhXI/AAAAAAAABhs/9a_0DhLtDlo/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.37.42.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Still not feeling it. I really don't like how the yellow and reds from the Izinks are showing. OyVey... Ok, lets mix some water, Neocolors and acrylic white together and do a wash over the background. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4b1lCXrkmfA/VSsFLCIsyhI/AAAAAAAABh4/5PauZKgeZ_w/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.57.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4b1lCXrkmfA/VSsFLCIsyhI/AAAAAAAABh4/5PauZKgeZ_w/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.57.27.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVH1jCVLoTA/VSsFKrqrmWI/AAAAAAAABh0/zTLwePFQxrM/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.57.34.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BVH1jCVLoTA/VSsFKrqrmWI/AAAAAAAABh0/zTLwePFQxrM/s1600/2015-04-12%2B15.57.34.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Better. Still needs more circles. Purple... why not! I also then added some charcoal pencil for shading around the circles. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IB_TIJ60ZTQ/VSsFNUuF-oI/AAAAAAAABiE/ZJHefX8Kwdo/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.14.44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IB_TIJ60ZTQ/VSsFNUuF-oI/AAAAAAAABiE/ZJHefX8Kwdo/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.14.44.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pQ11EUeszlQ/VSsFPw8zBOI/AAAAAAAABiM/Ry57hkiX4J0/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.26.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pQ11EUeszlQ/VSsFPw8zBOI/AAAAAAAABiM/Ry57hkiX4J0/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.26.11.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Alrighty then... have you ever had one of those pages that you just weren't feeling until the very end. Yup... that's this one. So, I decided that since I have outlined the circles in black I would do the same with the page and smudge black around the edges with a black Gelato and bring that shading down into the page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nisAz4iVpgc/VSsFTbf4M3I/AAAAAAAABiU/l6xeR6BgNFA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.41.43.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nisAz4iVpgc/VSsFTbf4M3I/AAAAAAAABiU/l6xeR6BgNFA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.41.43.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I was about to walk away and call it a day with this page when I spotted my gold Gelato looking at me and it gave me that wink and said... hey,,, how about me? Sure why not... it couldn't make it any worse could it? LOL <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sC3t-oc_G0k/VSsFWFhta8I/AAAAAAAABic/acYIhwHzvIw/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.55.44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sC3t-oc_G0k/VSsFWFhta8I/AAAAAAAABic/acYIhwHzvIw/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.55.44.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yGsPLkEkmTA/VSsFX2cJT3I/AAAAAAAABik/49_DS_opJzA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.58.18-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yGsPLkEkmTA/VSsFX2cJT3I/AAAAAAAABik/49_DS_opJzA/s1600/2015-04-12%2B16.58.18-2.jpg" height="382" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My battery was about to die and so it came out a bit blurry. And the lighting was getting darker in the house and so you can't really see the gold but I think I kind of like it. Not my favorite page by any stretch but it might grow on me. LOL <br />
<br />
Well..... I'm done!!!!! Whoohoo.... now I can start on my next book at my next opportunity! I hope you have enjoyed my experimenting and growth over the past year. I look forward to growing some more and my art is really the perfect outlet for me to release and express myself. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to follow me and leave me some love along the way! xoxo<br />

She completed her first page and I was so proud of what she had done. She is really developing some awesome talents. :) While I was there to answer her questions and explain different mediums to her and how to use them, I worked on a page that I started a couple of weeks ago. This page is inspired by Tracy Scott and her style designs. I love her pages. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZBNG9kyq_Y/VRizew45o8I/AAAAAAAABe0/MqAdDQxaOzo/s1600/2015-03-29%2B20.12.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PZBNG9kyq_Y/VRizew45o8I/AAAAAAAABe0/MqAdDQxaOzo/s1600/2015-03-29%2B20.12.10.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I had initially sprayed some blue thru a stencil but I found that the blue was darker than I was looking for so I gesso'd back over top and the gesso picked up on the blue and smudged the color underneath. I liked how it softened the hard edges of the harlequin pattern. I then did my face and colored it, added some script stamp in archival ink, but once I got past that point I was stumped. So the page sat for a couple of weeks while I took a step back for a bit. When I came back to it, the harlequin pattern reminded me of a page that Tracy had done not long ago and I knew that it would be my inspiration to complete mine. So, I used acrylic paints to paint in the diamond shapes in random. I then took my sketch and wash pencil and drew in the flower centers and petals. I did a primer base of titanium white and then used my Neocolors to color in the flowers. I finished off around the pattern and flowers with charcoal and smudged it to create shading. The black dots in the center of the flower is from IzInks and a stylus. I finished off the page with a stamp. :) <br />
<br />
Hope you enjoy! And thank you to Tracy for the inspiration I needed to complete this page! :) <br />

Good friends, good wine and some ink and what can get better than that? A whole day just playing, talking, laughing and having some fun with one of my best friends. She's not a scrapbooker, she doesn't do art journaling but she saw my Prima sprays the other day and she just wanted to get her hands on them and do some spraying. LOL Sure! So we planned a day and had some fun. ;) Her first page that she started on she picked some pretty vibrant colors, pinks blues teals... so not her. LOL I could tell she wasn't feeling it, but she went ahead and added some stamps and she really wasn't feeling it. LOL So, I suggested that she just put it aside and start on a new page. It was like she was kind of feeling bad for using product on a page and wasting it, but it's only a bit of spray and gesso! So while she proceeded on grabbing colors that were more to her taste, I took her page that I thought was a great base for a cool page and continued on with it. Here, is the end result of a collaborated effort. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EKJvwpqra-c/VQ70JAXW_QI/AAAAAAAABdw/BP6TMEhr31o/s1600/2015-03-21%2B22.00.38.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EKJvwpqra-c/VQ70JAXW_QI/AAAAAAAABdw/BP6TMEhr31o/s1600/2015-03-21%2B22.00.38.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I continued to add more sprays, build layers and outlined the bubbles she didn't like. I colored in the face. Added some metallic gelatos and more sprays. And this is what came of it. I think she created such a great starting point and I wanted her to see how something can change by continuing to build on it. :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8KHoKZKuyQ0/VQ71qsjMA9I/AAAAAAAABd8/y0SnbZ9fiaw/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.05.44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8KHoKZKuyQ0/VQ71qsjMA9I/AAAAAAAABd8/y0SnbZ9fiaw/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.05.44.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nk8y5VX4vqc/VQ71r_GvfVI/AAAAAAAABeE/xlAvu-b8jZc/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.44.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nk8y5VX4vqc/VQ71r_GvfVI/AAAAAAAABeE/xlAvu-b8jZc/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.44.49.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a><br />
<br />
These are her next 2 pages she did with the sprays and some stamps! I am so proud of her for trying something so totally out of her comfort zone. She did such a great job and honestly the photos do not do them justice at all. They are so intense with depth and metallic shine. The photos actually look like they have a lot of white on them but in real they don't. I think she did great! She's already looking forward to the next time she can get her hands on some sprays. :) Whoohoo... another play buddy. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AZ-Jqza_0-M/VQ71tRQBd5I/AAAAAAAABeM/kZDku03ZS0s/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.27.17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AZ-Jqza_0-M/VQ71tRQBd5I/AAAAAAAABeM/kZDku03ZS0s/s1600/2015-03-21%2B20.27.17.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This page I took some Dylusion paints and some Liquitex paints and started to smear them onto the page with my fingers randomly in both vertical and horizontal sweeps. I then took a Lyndi Stamp Gang gold spray and misted it over top. The gold grabbed onto the white and created these cool gold sweeps of color and left the white where I didn't spray. Again, the shimmer is hard to see in the photo. I used some white acrylic paint to start and made circles with my finger and then used my Neocolors II and drew circles of color and wet my finger to color in the circles. I created the black outlines with a diluted acrylic paint to make it nice and fluid and a script paint brush. The stamps are Tim Holtz hashtags. I bordered the edge of the page with an archival coffee brown ink and blending tool to finish off the page. :) I wasn't feeling this page as I went thru it for some reason but I love the end result and even more so today after I've had a chance to back away from it for a bit. :) <br />
<br />
I have another page on the go but haven't completed it yet so that will have to be finished on another day! My fun for the weekend is over for now since I have a whole house to clean, laundry to do, and some groceries to get for my upcoming work week. If I really hustle today I might be able to squeeze in a bit more play time tonight... we'll see. ;) <br />
<br />
Have a great upcoming week and I'll see you when I get a chance to sit down and have some Art time again. :) Love to hear from you and comments always make my day. :) Thanks for visiting! <br />

Sometimes it feels like a catch 22 when you work so hard to be able to buy the stuff you want, like ohhhhh say.... craft supplies!!!, but then you are so tired and time is so limited to actually do the things you love. I am finding myself being more aware of my busy schedule and planning ahead when I can to make that time so I can indulge in doing things that make me happy. But you know, it's not just about making me happy, it is therapy. Anyone, who suffers from depression even a little bit knows that they need to really work hard on keeping themselves in a happy space, and for me one of the things that really helps me is my art. So, this past weekend was for exactly that and I had planned 2 days specifically for that purpose. :) Lets jump in and I'll show you what I was up to! :)<br />
<br />
Yesterday, I had a friend come over who wanted to try her hand at just spraying paper and having some fun. LOL Well, it didn't take long and she was having a blast with sprays, inks, stamps... LOL While she played I worked on my stuff. The first page I had started the night before after finishing my last blog entry and completed it yesterday. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eMrKkzzyX24/VQ7oNL2l5qI/AAAAAAAABc4/kNEYQcYrNUE/s1600/2015-03-20%2B22.13.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eMrKkzzyX24/VQ7oNL2l5qI/AAAAAAAABc4/kNEYQcYrNUE/s1600/2015-03-20%2B22.13.27.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I grabbed some of my Prima sprays and sprayed them over a gesso'd page. I love how the sprays pitted over the gesso almost like the same effect you get with sprinkling salt over top. I started off with some brown in the two corners but felt it need just a little something else so I went back over top and sprayed some purple. Winner! I found that the brown underneath helped tone down the brightness of the purple which was perfect. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up... pick out some stamps. Because of the pitting, it reminded me of underwater bubbles, so I choose the Dylusions stamp sets to create an underwater scene. These sea creatures are so much fun! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to use my pencils so that I would start using some mediums that I have shelved and not used in some time. These pencils were one of those items. My goal is to start using at least one thing that I haven't used in a while or at all per page. We'll see how I do with that in the upcoming projects. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Almost done. I sprayed some paper and stamped the saying onto it, cut it out and sealed it down with some gel matte medium. Next, I needed to add some white to the page to highlight they eyes and some bubbles. I used a White Out pen for the fishies and a white charcoal pencil for the bubbles. I used a charcoal soft white so they bubbles were there but not so obviously that they looked the same as the white eyes of the fish. I found the gel pen didn't want to write on the background. Not sure why. I also used some charcoal black to frame the words. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XV6mlIn3v2c/VQ7oUttGllI/AAAAAAAABdY/PH8ME5z4K2Y/s1600/2015-03-21%2B13.37.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XV6mlIn3v2c/VQ7oUttGllI/AAAAAAAABdY/PH8ME5z4K2Y/s1600/2015-03-21%2B13.37.10.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And there we go. My page is done. I contemplated doing some shading within the seaweed but I didn't want to darken the page too much. I may go back later and do that... not sure yet. Should I or shouldn't I, that is the question. If I do, I'll add the revised photo below. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by again. Let me know if you think I should add more shading. I'm really undecided on that. :) Have a great day and I'm off to add a few more photos on my next entry of time spent with my GF just playing and having some fun. :) </div>

LOL I made several mistakes on this page but had to go with the flow cause once it was done there was no going back. In the end, I think it turned out pretty OK. I always have fun experimenting and seeing what comes of it. It is such a great lesson in learning to let go and being imperfect. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0_K3Tci3Y00/VQzNuEwae7I/AAAAAAAABaQ/rApZZ57SY38/s1600/2015-03-20%2B14.52.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0_K3Tci3Y00/VQzNuEwae7I/AAAAAAAABaQ/rApZZ57SY38/s1600/2015-03-20%2B14.52.04.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>

<br />
I started with some Gelatos on a page prepped with gesso. I sprayed some water onto the craft sheet and used a sponge that I picked up at the dollar store and dipped into the water a bit to dampen the sponge and blend the gelatos together. Don't get too much water into the sponge or it will dilute the color too much. I found that happened to me in a few spots so after it was blended with the sponge I dried it and went back over with some of the pink and peach and dry blended with my finger to intensify the color a bit more. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G4vQtph54xI/VQzOLRtrdWI/AAAAAAAABao/3umCHAbv3E4/s1600/2015-03-20%2B15.24.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G4vQtph54xI/VQzOLRtrdWI/AAAAAAAABao/3umCHAbv3E4/s1600/2015-03-20%2B15.24.11.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j_DZxxOnRlo/VQzOMwRlhFI/AAAAAAAABaw/wNWCPGXu00Y/s1600/2015-03-20%2B15.24.23.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j_DZxxOnRlo/VQzOMwRlhFI/AAAAAAAABaw/wNWCPGXu00Y/s1600/2015-03-20%2B15.24.23.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Next, I took 3 colors from the Prima sprays (Love these sprays) and some water and sprayed over the gelato background and let it marble. Because the gelatos are kind of waxy the sprays marble really well because it acts like a resist underneath and the colors run together really well. I used my heat gun to help dry it faster. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oMLy4qIGUvM/VQzOPv7Qa7I/AAAAAAAABa4/xIqxP-NqxUk/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.10.00.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oMLy4qIGUvM/VQzOPv7Qa7I/AAAAAAAABa4/xIqxP-NqxUk/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.10.00.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a new stencil I got and wanted to use it on this page. I used an acrylic paint and a sponge to apply the color thru. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KkQOYyvATWw/VQzORYt2N8I/AAAAAAAABbA/oTjb-plci40/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.32.27.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KkQOYyvATWw/VQzORYt2N8I/AAAAAAAABbA/oTjb-plci40/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.32.27.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a6HCHu4Zcg8/VQzOU9O6ZpI/AAAAAAAABbI/v8DSDavEUsg/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.39.22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a6HCHu4Zcg8/VQzOU9O6ZpI/AAAAAAAABbI/v8DSDavEUsg/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.39.22.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a><br />
<br />
I wanted to use my new Dylusions paints. So I grabbed a stencil and sponged color thru. I found the green a lot brighter than I was really aiming for once it was in place so I thought I'd take one of the Prima sprays and offset the stencil and spray some thru to create a dimensional look. Well, that didn't work so good because once again with the waxy base created a resist and the spray seemed muddled and uneven. Kind of looked like crap and I had to find a way to correct.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sl9ac437nHo/VQzOWrioWOI/AAAAAAAABbQ/1R_kgt5GKIs/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.56.11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sl9ac437nHo/VQzOWrioWOI/AAAAAAAABbQ/1R_kgt5GKIs/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.56.11.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZSPB0lYvJ84/VQzOZ2ZyIPI/AAAAAAAABbY/Qhe_Nb1zBg4/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.56.31.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZSPB0lYvJ84/VQzOZ2ZyIPI/AAAAAAAABbY/Qhe_Nb1zBg4/s1600/2015-03-20%2B16.56.31.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a><br />
<br />
Well, let's do some experimenting. I took some clear embossing paste onto my craft sheet and sprayed some spray on and mixed them together to create what I was hoping would be a transparent green shimmery paste. Yeh well...no. I placed the stencil back over top of the original green paint and spread the paste thru. Wow... dark! Ohoh... well, it's done so let us do the other side. Eech... oh boy... now what. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PX9YAXsze_s/VQzObx_wf3I/AAAAAAAABbg/rHUb9vvlnuM/s1600/2015-03-20%2B17.07.37.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PX9YAXsze_s/VQzObx_wf3I/AAAAAAAABbg/rHUb9vvlnuM/s1600/2015-03-20%2B17.07.37.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I grabbed another green spray and sprayed to bottom of the page really heavy with the spray and tipped it to create runs which I was hoping to use as stems for flowers. You'll notice that the color of the dark green/black leaves have a lighter shimmery effect. The spray pooled and ran over the waxy colored background from the gelato's but clung to the embossing paste. Cool! Back on track...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I sketched a few flowers in with a sketch and wash pencil and painted white acrylic paint and then took my Neocolors and some water to create water colors and colored my flower petals. <br />

I finished off the flowers by outlining with some charcoal pencil and added a stamp to the top of the page. The leaves still felt wrong so I thought I'd try adding some perfect pearls on them to make them pop a bit more. They just still seemed so dark. I took two different perfect pearls and blended them over top with my fingers. <br />

Think my next page will be a bit more simple. This was definitely a longer process than I had originally planned, but learn from our mistakes and move forward. Have a great night and see you on the flip side when I am back with my next project. :) <br />
<br />
Somehow I lost my signature. Oops. Nighty night. xoAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15002568762294092260noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3511348718285659278.post-19817159412810570642015-03-14T19:02:00.002-06:002015-03-14T19:02:46.048-06:00To art or to clean... ART wins. This is going to be a really fast blog and unfortunately with no tutorial this time added. Long days at work and little time to play. I manager to do a few quick pages with my new Neocolors II and I bought some Prima Color Bloom sprays to try them out. Love them! So, I just needed some do some art before time got away on me again and another long stretch of no fun faded away. Hubby thankfully has gone back to work after a long layoff so my time to just spend a couple of hours for myself opened up and I took full advantage. I don't know about you, but as I get older time just goes by faster and I seem busier than ever before. I don't really think I am, but my perception seems to tell me so. I was so tickled when I stepped away from home on my day off to run some errands and my parcel was sitting on my doorstep for my Neo's! OMG... the estimated delivery was for the following Monday. I giggled like a school girl as I grabbed my package and without delay opened it to reveal my new play tools! Eek... Why is it that something as simple as crayons can make a grown woman giddy? So, of course, I had to play! I couldn't have them sitting there looking at me while I went about my day cleaning and stuff without opening them to play some! LOL Ok, well that's my story... and I'm sticking to it. LOL <br />
<br />
My first page was just a fast easy page I whipped up in the morning just to get some Art action happening. I had this page in my head for such a long time but hadn't had the time to do it. So, a fast easy gesso, Dylusion sprays, Prima spray and stamps. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pDuM9ybV0-w/VQTYmpOQNtI/AAAAAAAABZc/KBTwLLREKVs/s1600/2015-03-13%2B17.27.04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pDuM9ybV0-w/VQTYmpOQNtI/AAAAAAAABZc/KBTwLLREKVs/s1600/2015-03-13%2B17.27.04.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And my next page... well I took a page I had started quite some time ago that I was not liking and this is where my Neo's came in to play and transformed my horrible page into something spectacular! Love my new Neo's! They were worth every penny. :)<br />

<br />
Well, I know I'm excited about playing with the Neo's so I hope looking at the fun colors and the whimsy of this page brings you as much of a smile as it did me playing with them. :) Have a great night and drop me a line. :) <br />

I love it when I get to bring someone into my world of fun! I got my SIL into art journaling and I hope that this will continue to be something that we can do together for a long time to come. She is going to take a different approach with it and do Bible art journaling allowing her to express herself thru her faith. As a start I have her set up with a Strathmore mixed media journal to practice with me some different paint, doodling, stamping etc techniques and get used to the different mediums that she can use before working in her bible. I think once she really gets into it she'll be hooked like so many of us are. :) So today, while I took her thru a few steps and different techniques to start on building layers for a background, I did my own page along with her. Though our techniques were the same our pages totally took on different entities. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN4Nxc7q-zE/VPJ8aaZA4eI/AAAAAAAABY0/81CxUmFkpIA/s1600/2015-02-28%2B19.18.12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN4Nxc7q-zE/VPJ8aaZA4eI/AAAAAAAABY0/81CxUmFkpIA/s1600/2015-02-28%2B19.18.12.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
To build the background I selected 3 different distress paints and over a previously gesso'd page, I heavily smeared the paint in batches around the paper on both sides. I then misted the pages with water and folded them in on each other and pressed the paints together. When I pulled them apart I took a baby wipe and blotted the inks a bit more to blend them together. I used very soft toned colors. I was demo'ing, for my SIL, how to dilute acrylic paints with water to thin them out so that I could splatter some color onto the page. I just happened to grab a bright raspberry pink in distress paint and used a stir stick from our Starbucks coffee that she brought us. I wanted to show her how she could use ordinary objects from around her house to create textures and patterns on her page. So, I splattered some pink onto the page and then once again closed the pages to smoosh them together. I made larger circle splatters on the page which I thought was kind of cool I then had to pick out a stamp I wanted to use to get my theme started. I used the cute owl from the Dina Wakley set which I think is adorable! Next, I added some Dyan's dylusions mushroom stamps to the bottom and some leaves to the top using Wendy Vecchi archival inks. I outlined the leaves with a black sharpie marker, and then colored in some water color pencils to add depth and color dimension to the leaves and a water brush to blend them. Next, I shaded around the leaves with a charcoal pencil for some added depth and used the pencil to draw a vein in each leaf. I looked at the mushrooms and wasn't sure how I wanted to color them so I grabbed Scattered straw distress spray and sprayed over top of the mushroom to add some extra color into the background. I also grabbed Aloha avocado Lyndy stamp gang spray and sprayed that around the border of the bottom part of the page to bring a bit more green into the page. Once dry, I used a variety of charcoal pencils from light sepia up to dark sepia and white charcoal and black charcoal to create my mushrooms. I used some Lyra aqua crayons to color in the owl and water colored him. Then I outlined him in charcoal as well. The whole time I was working on finishing off my page my hubby wouldn't stop talking so I used my Dyan's stamp that says, Are you still talking? LOL A bit of a play on what was happening around me and what I wanted to happen on the page. As I was looking at the page with my sentiment on it, I looked at the wide eyed owl, the mushrooms and the pink dots I had previously created and thought hey.... I'm going to turn the dots into bubbles. So, my wide eye'd owl was being playful and happy with his psychedelic mushrooms and lots of floaty pink bubbles around him. LOL A bit warped but I thought it was funny. I finished off the leaves, and the bubbles with a white gel pen for some highlight marks. And that concluded the end of my page. :) <br />
<br />
Hope you enjoy! :) Hubby is still talking so I think I am going to show him my owl and what the page is saying! LOL Have a great night and have fun with your next page! ;)<br />

I had a few hours this afternoon to do a quick page. My inspiration came from some Ephemera that I got from a real estate paper. The back page had a photo of the three monkeys that were hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. I loved it. The Realtor had a few cool sentences that I cut up and rearranged to make it say what I wanted. :) This page was inspired by some real negativity I witnessed on Facebook today. I am finding that people in general are truly judgmental and cruel, and the whole thing I read made me really upset and it was that event that inspired this page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pai5a2vopL4/VOFgCDEu3WI/AAAAAAAABYk/ZioEgLPIslQ/s1600/2015-02-15%2B15.04.22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Pai5a2vopL4/VOFgCDEu3WI/AAAAAAAABYk/ZioEgLPIslQ/s1600/2015-02-15%2B15.04.22.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I started off with using a dotted stencil and gesso to create a resist. I then took three different colored distress stains and a baby wipe and I started with the lighter color and made some smudges and immediately wiped with the baby wipe to remove from the gesso before it set. Next, the mid color tone and added to another area of the page and immediately wiped again. Last, the third and darkest color I smudged over the remainder of the page and again wiped with the baby wipe and blended the color. Because the stains are water soluble I covered the page with clear gesso to seal but not hinder the color. Once dry, I took another stencil and the cornflower blue archival ink and created the water mark effects. I looked for another stencil which was a harlequin style and a teal blue Lyndi stamp gang spray and added random patterns with the spray. I really wanted to add a lot of color dimension and texture for the background, so I found a crackle stencil and another gold toned Lyndi spray and added that to the pages. I used my heat tool to speed up the drying time. I then found a brown shimmery Lyndi stamp gang spray and did some direct sprays into the circles. It pooled and I tilted the book so that it would create some drip-age. Now, once dry again, I took my ephemera that I cut out of the paper and the words and used my matte medium to seal them down. I used some black gelato to smudge around the monkeys, and charcoal pencil to smudge around the words. To finish the edges of the pages I used Potting soil archival ink and a blending tool to grunge up around the edges of the page. And Whallah.... my page is done! One of my quickest pages I have done but I love it! <br />
<br />
I am almost done my book. A few pages left to do in my book and then I'll have my first completed book done! Whoohoo... :) I'll be ready to complete the outside of the book cover and have my very first book to show off. I'm excited! :) Thanks again for stopping in! Hope you enjoyed. xoxo<br />

We've got freezing rain happening right now so I'm not even feeling a bit guilty for being at home and working on my art journaling. It's not very often that I get to indulge this much in my art. I decided today that since I had lots of time to work on this page that I would take photo's so I could give a better tutorial on what I did. Think I'll go grab myself a cup of tea and get started... ok, tea in hand so let's get started. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zGWhhclZnjc/VNk-035zjAI/AAAAAAAABWU/9y1lfKm-wtU/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.42.39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zGWhhclZnjc/VNk-035zjAI/AAAAAAAABWU/9y1lfKm-wtU/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.42.39.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had bought a pack of soft pastels eons ago and had never tried using them so I pulled them out and started to play around with them. I tried on some scrap paper to see if they were water soluble and they were not, they seemed to just pill the paper and make a mess. Didn't like that at all so I thought I'd dry rub them. I picked my colors for my background and rubbed them on and then took a paper towel and dry rubbed the colors to blend. Quite liked the effect. My goal today was to use products that I hadn't used before, which I have to admit left the options wide open!!! LOL Scrapbook hoarder yes I am! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v4uSP8994Nk/VNk-y127UEI/AAAAAAAABWM/IJclbKpgg60/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.48.39.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v4uSP8994Nk/VNk-y127UEI/AAAAAAAABWM/IJclbKpgg60/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.48.39.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to use the doily stencil to achieve a soft delicate pattern on my page. I wasn't sure if it would react with the pastel underneath the way inks do and I found out that it does not! Great! It left a nice clean white image on the paper. I'm a happy camper. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OvdOBXXx5iQ/VNk-1aH7JeI/AAAAAAAABWc/-kfgb5DzCmo/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.59.45.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OvdOBXXx5iQ/VNk-1aH7JeI/AAAAAAAABWc/-kfgb5DzCmo/s1600/2015-02-09%2B12.59.45.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lovely! I wasn't sure what I was going to do next so I decided to seal it in with clear gesso. This still allowed me to have some tooth to the paper to apply more mediums on top. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had gotten these beautiful Prima stencils last year and had only used a couple of them so far. So, this was my chance. Once I decided on this image, I had a person in mind that I wanted to dedicate this page to. She's a lovely lady who I went to school with a long time ago in our elementary years and only recently reconnected via facebook again after all that time. She now lives abroad and is of native origin and is a beautiful person inside and out. I know life has been hard for her and I want her to know that there are people out there who thinks she's wonderful just the way she is! So, with her in mind, I am proceeding forward with this page. I used archival ink and a blending tool to transfer the image onto the page so I had an outline to work with. I have to admit, I suck at sketching so until I get confident enough to try that, this is the way I need to go. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqxR5YlMIcc/VNk-5GO5sxI/AAAAAAAABW0/WzA_HR0huXw/s1600/2015-02-09%2B13.30.33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TqxR5YlMIcc/VNk-5GO5sxI/AAAAAAAABW0/WzA_HR0huXw/s1600/2015-02-09%2B13.30.33.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I hadn't used my water color crayons in ages so I wanted to use them to color the image. I picked out my colors and lay some color down and used a small brush to blend them. I build layers of color to get the coverage and blend that I felt I needed. Looking at my images now I realize that I need to go back in and fix the eye. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Next up, hair... there's so much of it! Yikes. I chose 3 different shades of color, 2 browns and a black. I used my paint brush and water and blended the colors with the narrowness of the brush to get fine hairline strokes. Worked a lot better than I thought. ;) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XuHTdcwUIGI/VNk-_4jCdZI/AAAAAAAABXc/ahZPwRnykPU/s1600/2015-02-09%2B14.29.05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XuHTdcwUIGI/VNk-_4jCdZI/AAAAAAAABXc/ahZPwRnykPU/s1600/2015-02-09%2B14.29.05.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did go back in and soften it up with more water later. Now I needed to color the flowers in her hair and the feather. So I used Dylusion colors and a paint brush to apply the color. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kRX6RPfNWV4/VNk_A79bQYI/AAAAAAAABXk/J7PzcnfAB8k/s1600/2015-02-09%2B14.43.52.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kRX6RPfNWV4/VNk_A79bQYI/AAAAAAAABXk/J7PzcnfAB8k/s1600/2015-02-09%2B14.43.52.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up, I wanted to create a dream catcher. I've seen tons of dream catcher pages being done currently and I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to go about this. I rummaged thru my stash of goodies to find something that I could use. God knows, I have enough stuff, and surely I must have something I can use! LOL Bingo! I found a doily stencil and some feather stamps both that I hadn't used yet. Perfect! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JxWAC0DMdwU/VNk_CIJNesI/AAAAAAAABXs/Lo6ZCrUUWp8/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.18.01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JxWAC0DMdwU/VNk_CIJNesI/AAAAAAAABXs/Lo6ZCrUUWp8/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.18.01.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love my Ferro's for texture paste. They have a smooth grittiness to them and a bit of shimmer and they dry so beautiful. The texture is amazing. I highly recommend them. So, whilst that is drying I wanted to do some shading around my lovely lady. I first used gelatos in complementing colors to the pastels below and intensify the colors around her like a halo. Then I followed around the outline with a charcoal pencil to create some shadowing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3T1WjVrLtBg/VNk_DhpdLDI/AAAAAAAABX0/NUQA3eOhw3A/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.24.54.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3T1WjVrLtBg/VNk_DhpdLDI/AAAAAAAABX0/NUQA3eOhw3A/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.24.54.jpg" height="640" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Time to draw in some lines and stamp on the feathers for the dreamcatcher! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g_u5AVR3jxU/VNk_IbTQWXI/AAAAAAAABX8/A2myU0aoREM/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.50.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g_u5AVR3jxU/VNk_IbTQWXI/AAAAAAAABX8/A2myU0aoREM/s1600/2015-02-09%2B15.50.49.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The pencil wasn't a strong enough look so used Gelato's to create the lines. I think I should have used the charcoal pencil instead but oh well... too late! LOL I used the saying "Let your dreams take flight" from the same stamp set that I got the feathers from. Also, looking at the photo now I am not happy with the feather in the hair. It just seems a bit lost in there. So I think I am going to glue down some string and attach it to the flower in the hair so it looks like it is meant to be there. :) Note to self: Fix eye and add a string to the feather. :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another page done. I hope you enjoy this page. I will add the revised photo later once I fix the items on my list. :) Thanks for stopping in! Drop me a line and say Hi! I would love to get some feedback from you. :) xoxo</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

Pull out the art journal and start playing that's what! LOL Had fun and also got my February Dylusions challenge done as well. So, do you want to see what I've been up to so far? Let's take a look and I hope you enjoy. <br />
<br />
This first page is for the Feb Dylusions facebook challenge. The challenge was to use the color purple, hearts and skulls. Love Dyan's stamps and colors and of course the sentiments rock! "Caution-mood swing in progress"... perfectly depicts me today so I had to choose that saying. I used a lot of layers to develop the background with Distress paints, Dylusion sprays, stencils, script stamp, TH tissue paper. I sprayed paper with three different Dylusion sprays and then punched out the hearts. I colored the images with copics. The dangling hearts were stamped and colored with Dylusion sprays and a brush. I love how the sprays became very pastel in the background. I sealed everything down with a matte gel medium. The colors are so much more vibrant in real. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--mxASUaq-XI/VNgiSHWgPcI/AAAAAAAABVs/JP8zo_R_Kk0/s1600/20150208_190909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--mxASUaq-XI/VNgiSHWgPcI/AAAAAAAABVs/JP8zo_R_Kk0/s1600/20150208_190909.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Next up... I worked with lots of layering to develop this background again. I used stamps, stencils, Lyndi stamp gang sprays, Izinks, gesso, napkins, distress paints, charcoal pencil. I don't think I could do this page again if I tried. I was in so much pain when I was working on this page that I don't remember how I put it together. I had to take so many breaks in between building the layers that I can't give a tutorial on how I developed it. Sorry. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEdew_3ryiw/VNgicww8b-I/AAAAAAAABV4/GQtL2TPmXkQ/s1600/2015-02-08%2B19.09.49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DEdew_3ryiw/VNgicww8b-I/AAAAAAAABV4/GQtL2TPmXkQ/s1600/2015-02-08%2B19.09.49.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And last but not least, this page took several days in the making as well and I completed it today. I took inspiration from a Donna Downey video I watched along with techniques from a Christy Riopel course I took. I used Gelato's to put down color onto the page. Once the whole page was colored with a multitude of yummy color I put clear gesso over top. One to help seal in the color and second so that I could continue to build more layers over top. I then took a variety of stencils and started to build layers with sprays and distress inks. Next, I took some letters and laid them out and traced around them with a black gel pen. I took some gesso and worked it around the letters and outwards but only in some areas so that some of the color would become softer and other areas would retain the brighter colors. I then took some TH rub ons and randomly placed them around the page. I also cut out the butterfly from his tissue paper roll and another butterfly from a napkin I had. I sealed them down with matte gel medium. I took some grey gelato and smudged it around the lettering to emphasize it more and the brighter background colors really pop out. I finished by taking walnut stain ink and blending tool and distressed around the edges and inwards a bit to deepen the border. The page really has a lot of dimension that is hard to see in the photo. I love how it turned out. And here it is...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LQznX-t5ehQ/VNgicUnc_wI/AAAAAAAABV0/Kw-wNYD_FOk/s1600/2015-02-08%2B19.10.28.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LQznX-t5ehQ/VNgicUnc_wI/AAAAAAAABV0/Kw-wNYD_FOk/s1600/2015-02-08%2B19.10.28.jpg" height="360" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Hope you enjoy'd the pages as much as I enjoy making them. Not sure if I'll have time to start on another background tonight but you never know! Once on a roll.... it's hard to stop. Hope to see you back soon! Would love it if you would leave me a note so I know you were here. :) <br />

Hi all! Is anyone else snowed in? We are getting huge snow falls today. I've shoveled my driveway twice today and I know it needs it again but I got carried away in my craft room again so it'll have to wait till morning. Not looking forward to seeing how much snow will be out there at that time. The joys of winter. We sure are making up for the brown Christmas we had earlier. <br />
<br />
Well, I thought since I was home for most of the day today I would work on the January Dylusions facebook challenge. The challenge this month is a tribute to another artsy crafter who sadly passed away. I did not know her but I have lost enough beautiful souls in my life that I could certainly relate to this feeling. I immediately had an idea of what I wanted to do for this page, there was no hesitation at all. The challenge needed to include the color yellow, wings and flowers. <br />
<br />
I immediately went to my lady stencil from Dylusions, sorry I have no idea of the top of my head what the stencils name is. I used 4 Dylusion color sprays and a variety of other stencils for my background. I randomly sprayed the background with the sprays. I then took my stencil and with a pencil traced the image onto the page. I took gesso and faded out the whole background leaving the female silhouette as the vibrant backdrop. Next I used my charcoal pencil to outline the image. I grabbed a range of gelato colors... white, pink, yellow and blended some color around the page to soften the color of the background some more. I found another stencil with wings and added the wings to the image with a texture paste in a graphite color. It has some beautiful sparkle in the paste that you can't see in the photo. I found the sentiment that I wanted to use and stamped it onto some white paper and cut it out and set it aside for later. I also had just purchased a dandelion stencil that I really wanted to use for this challenge. It's not exactly a flower in the way that most people see flowers but at one point it was a flower and when it goes to seed the beautiful little seeds float up in the sky light as a feather and free!!! There is such a correlation to me between an angel with wings and the freedom of the floating seeds. I used my Ferro in a teal color for the dandelions and Stazon stormy sky ink for the individual floating seeds. I initially tried to do the dandelions in a white paste but it just didn't show up again the bright colors of the background so I opted for a stunning teal/blue color that would give the page another pop of color. I glued down the strips of the sentiment. Lastly, I took iced coffee gelato and blended it around the edges of the pages to frame it. <br />
<br />
I love this page and I truly hope that I did the tribute justice. This page speaks to me and beside it being done for the challenge I also want to dedicate this page to those who I have lost as well. Thank you for checking out my page. <br />

If you are anywhere in Canada right now you are probably sympathizing right now. Holy cold! I really was planning on doing some grocery shopping today, but hey... who needs to eat! I'd rather be warm. LOL So, I took advantage of the time at home and got my tree down, did a tiny amount of cleaning and then well....my craft room was calling my name every time I walked past, so a person can only say no a few times before the craft room wins. LOL <br />
<br />
You know how I mentioned the other day about loving the napkins for decoupaging... today it certainly wasn't working in my favor. Each time I tried to fix it I was making it worse. Oh my....good thing perseverance won. Still not my favorite finish but it did help the end result to some degree. I like the idea of the page though. I took many different inspirations from Pinterest ranging from France Papillon to Roben-Marie Smith and threw in my own twist. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qe9DEKDyAWo/VKn7BMrEm9I/AAAAAAAABUg/gBqX3egQ5bU/s1600/002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qe9DEKDyAWo/VKn7BMrEm9I/AAAAAAAABUg/gBqX3egQ5bU/s1600/002.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I started to prep my page with a script stamp from Indigo Blue and used 4 different colors of archival ink to create a variegated background in colors. I then took some gesso and a credit card and created random swipes with the gesso so as not to cover the whole page. I then took two Distress sprays in Scattered Straw and Rusty Hinge in isolated areas and water to cause the color to spread. You can see around the edges where there was no gesso cause the color is darker and really soaked into the paper. I used gelatos around the edges in chocolate and in blue aqua. I took my napkin image that I cut out and used my matte medium to decoupage it down. This is where the fun began. The medium which is water based started to pick up the spray color from below and it smeared and really darkened my napkin image so that the light sepia look I was going for ended up almost disappearing into the background. Grrrr... so, lets take another image and cut it out and put it directly over top once it was dry and then there should be anymore color to smear and maybe the image would show up better. Nope... hmmmm. So, brilliant me thought OK, I'll take another napkin and use the three layers instead of the one and seal that down at one time so that the white of the other two layers would lighten up the look. Well... I got bubbles and bumps and the image really didn't appear much lighter. In fact, it looked worse... much worse. Oh man... I was going to leave it but then thought, well if I do a white gesso wash overtop of the image and cut out another single sheet of the image and seal that down overtop of the white wash then for sure it would be lighter! Ah huh... SUCCESS!!! Except now there is this white halo effect around the image. After I had already snapped the photo I did go back in once it was dry and used my FC Pitt pen in brown and shade the white out a bit so that it integrated into the background better. I then sealed down the baking soda can images in the other corner. I wanted to do circles and used my Finnibar stencil to create large circles with my acrylic white paint. I used gelatos to shade in the same blue and an orange inside the circle. I used black gelato to shade around the circles. I decided I needed more circles. So I took the same stencil and some molding paste and laid down smaller circles. Once dry, I used the gelato blue aqua again to color the smaller circles and I outlined them with a light sepia charcoal pencil and a stump to blend. Looking at the picture I think I might go back and add some gesso or white acrylic paint overtop of the smaller blue circles to lighten them up a bit. Last I took my sentiment stamp and inked with archival ink. <br />
<br />
I really wanted more white space than I ended up with but that's ok. I'm trying to incorporate more white space into some of my pages. I really have this tendency to fill in all the gaps. I love how it looks when other artists do pages with white space. I need a bit more practice in that department. Keep practicing I guess. <br />
<br />
If you popped in from facebook or pinterest to take a look at my blog I'd love to hear from you. Leave a message for me and say Hi. Would love to hear from you. Have a great night and maybe I'll be able to find some time to do another page this next week. :) <br />

Happy New Year to you all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas season. I have no clue where 2014 went to but somewhere along the way it came and went. I finally had an opportunity to sit down today and get into my play room and work on my art journal again. Pinterest is all great but I needed to get in there and get my fingers messy! It has been so long since I have been able to find time to get in there and I had a blast. As per my usual, I had no clue what I was going to do until I got in there, and even then I still had no clue what I was doing or where I was going with the pages. LOL But I guess that is what makes art journaling so personal and unique. :)<br />
<br />
My first page started with some strips of washi tape including down the spine and some Lyndy Stamp Gang sprays. Last summer I found a whole pile of really cute napkins, I'm a sucker for napkins and I wanted to use them in my art work. So, I took one of my napkins and separated the layers. I used my matte medium and sealed down the images that I had torn into pieces to use throughout the page. I love how you can't see the seams anywhere, the napkin vanished and all that was left was the images. So cool! I then took some white embossing paste and a stencil to create some texture around the page and then found another stencil to use and I used my Wendy Vecchi gold embossing paste. Stunning product. Lastly, I grabbed a back piece of the napkin and stamped on my sentiment and then sealed it down as well. This was probably one of the fasted pages I have done in a long time, and I love the end result. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jM42c60hOBw/VKjQPu2htuI/AAAAAAAABUI/LPk6yHQdMZw/s1600/079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jM42c60hOBw/VKjQPu2htuI/AAAAAAAABUI/LPk6yHQdMZw/s1600/079.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This next page was a lot of layering because I was not feeling it at all! However, that being said I am loving the final page. :) I used a TH distress stain in old paper and stained the whole page as a starting point. Then I took one of my Crafter Workshop stencils which I used on the bottom left side and used another distress stain in Aged Mahogany. I misted the backside lightly with water and did a ghosting effect on the opposite page. I took TH distress paint in Evergreen Bough and made a few swipes vertically on the right side and some circles on the left to mimic florals. So far, looking horrendous! I then did a white wash gesso over top to soften the effect and I was loving it. The circles smudged slightly which was cool cause it created a bit more color texture. The gesso also picked up some of the Old Paper stain and it created some greenish hues as well. I went back over the circles again with more paint. I swiped some Age Mahogany distress paint onto some paper and cut out a heart for the right side. And I used my punch to make the smaller hearts. Painted them and adhered. I used gelatos in Chocolate to shade around the hearts. I pulled out my Christy Riopel stencil and some Wendy Vecchi black embossing paste and placed the word Adore down the side of the page over the heart. I wasn't so sure about my placement but just decided to go for it and I love how it looks. I had to use several mediums of white for highlighting around the work because of all the products I used varied and not all the pens worked in all areas, so the white effect was created with my Uniball gel pen, my Fabre Castel pitt pen, a white charcoal pencil and a Sharpie white water based pen. That was a challenge. Next I took white and black dimensional paints and added swirls around the blue circles and some highlights on the big heart. I also used the fine writing tip and wrote the words peace, love and harmony on the left with the dimensional paints. I took my newest favorite stencil and my Ferro in Iron and created some more texture. Yes... I am loving this page. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9x2Ld3td28/VKjQPml7rdI/AAAAAAAABUA/XNSnM8kqESA/s1600/081.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l9x2Ld3td28/VKjQPml7rdI/AAAAAAAABUA/XNSnM8kqESA/s1600/081.jpg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My last page... ohhhhhh....the challenge. I wanted to do a resist with gesso. So I grabbed a stencil I bought at Michael's a while back and gesso'd on the plain paper on both sides. Then I took some Lyndy Stamp Gang sprays in a soft pastels and sprayed the colors over the page. I took a baby wipe to remove the color from the gesso'd flower. OK... not bad. Now what! I decided to pull out my Twinkling H2O's and color over the gesso for the flowers. WHOA.... nope. Well, let's try spraying more over top! OhOH...it reactivated the whole page and there was so serious bleeding happening. Not working for me. Needed to tone that down a bunch. So I grabbed more gesso and a credit card and started to scrape the gesso on and this created some smudging and softening of the colors. Ok, now we are getting somewhere! My plan was to use the birdcage on this page. That was the only thing that I knew that I really wanted to use. So I took my birdcage stencil and some black embossing paste and created my cage. I found a canvas bird I have had for ages, colored it with distess stains, water and a brush. And stuck it down once the paste was dry. I grabbed my Dylusion leaves stamps and created greenery around the page with Archival inks. I did shading with Gelato's and charcoal pencil on the leaves and around the cage. I added my sentiment to the center of the space. I decided last minute to add a flower to the cage because I had smudged my embossing paste and made a bit of a mess... so I needed to cover it up. Don't mind the flower too much. :)<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Tahdah... It felt so good to get creative again. Even when things don't always turn out the way you think they might. It's late and past my bedtime. :) Have a wonderfully creative year and I hope to see and hear from you as this new year goes forward! <br />
<br />
Hugs to you all. <br />

I had myself some quick brunch and back to it. Lots to remember with all we were taught, so I'm refreshed and ready to go. :) So, 'Let's a go!' in my Super Mario voice. <br />
<br />
This next page is a really cool technique. Paper folds! Love it! Super simple but what a neat effect. Take paper and create folds. Then seal it down on the page with matte medium manipulating the paper to keep the folds prominent. When dry, add spray inks or in this case we used Twinkling H2O's! Finally, another use for them. I keep forgetting about my little pots of joy. Smoosh color on the page and add water and let the color run and drip and ooze all over the place collecting in the wonderful seams and pockets and let dry. I used a heat gun to speed up the process. Then, another great technique... tissue paper! Stamp an image on tissue paper and cut it out roughly and seal it down again with a matte medium. Reminds me of making my own TH version of tissue. Once sealed down you barely see the seam edges. The one note I have to myself is this, use a medium that isn't a high glaze base cause the wateriness of it reacts with the color and caused some smudging when I sealed down the images. I'm going to have to play with my different brands and see what works best, and use a dry brush not one that has any dampness to it. Again the water thing! DOH...the page seemed kind of empty so I added some black painted circles and white highlights for a bubble effect. I'm still not 100% satisfied with this page so I may come back at some point and play on it some more. Still too much empty space for my liking. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uuReRLZf4b4/VGJ06oUZWgI/AAAAAAAABSk/DtLN4Rh_XW8/s1600/2165.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uuReRLZf4b4/VGJ06oUZWgI/AAAAAAAABSk/DtLN4Rh_XW8/s400/2165.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Vaseline! Yeh,,, that is what I thought. HUH??? Vaseline? I'm going to have to practice this a bit more I think. Interesting technique though. So, first off paint the page with whatever color of paint you want. Then we were told to smear stripes of Vaseline down the page in areas with a honey like thickness of this goop. Then in single swipes spread an even coat of gesso over top and dry. I think of like when applying crackle paste, do not swipe more than once. The Vaseline acts like a resist and when the gesso is dry use a paper towel to wipe away the gesso and Vaseline and you have this rustic smear effect on the page with the color coming thru. Kinda cool! I am far from an expert at this technique but will have to attempt to try it again. Need to get some Vaseline I guess. Then we added some color to the bottom of the page with distress ink and smudged it with a baby wipe. I got a little over zealous with my ink and baby wipe and created too much color, but oh well... the butterfly was done by drawing it onto a loose paper then on the back side taking torn strips of patterned paper and gluing them down to create a uniquely patterned butterfly. Once dry, flip over and cut out the shape and adhere to the page. I used gelato's to smudge around the butterfly. Add some background stamps and a saying, then molding paste with a stencil for some textural effects. My paste disappeared and is hardly noticeable especially over the distress inks cause it bled thru the paste and the image basically disappeared. This is probably my least favorite page but with that being said, practice makes perfect or at least better. LOL I will attempt again and see what I come up with. Christy's page looked so great! <br />

<br />
<br />
This next page is so simple and one of my favorites! It's basically just using the page where you clean off your stencils on. Add some stamps, some charcoal pencil for shading and whallah! Yup that simple! Who'd a thunk it! I love the white space. I'm always so intent on filling up all the page with color that I never realized just how beautiful that white space is! So doing this more and what a great fast easy fun page to do. :) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RqWJRGYnOdM/VGJ8co5cwmI/AAAAAAAABTA/hK18P8_78iA/s1600/2124.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RqWJRGYnOdM/VGJ8co5cwmI/AAAAAAAABTA/hK18P8_78iA/s400/2124.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
OK, another one of my favorite techniques and a definite Christy Riopel style and design page. I love her canvas's using this technique. I so am going to do this more and work with different color combinations. Firstly, using a variety of different stencil patterns and color sprays, create patterns and colors on the back ground. Then we needed to find a stencil or mask that was not detailed, like a window style, or freehand an image onto the page. Gesso the whole page around the window image. Looking pretty cool! Add some paint or gelato's for shading around the image(s), and charcoal pencil. Add some background stamps for added pattern and a saying. Love this!!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Last one to try to remember. This is another one of my faves! An easy fast page to do and yet so beautiful! Gesso the page to start. Using gelato's, create swirls, we used two colors. Then spray water on top, lift the book and slam the bottom down on the table (have some paper towel down!!!) and create drip marks for the stems which will be for the flower. Stamp a floral image over top of the swirled color and shade around it with charcoal pencil. Add some background stamps, a saying, and some gelato's around the border to frame it in. Done! That's what I'm talking about! <br />
<br />

<br />
Well, this weekend class with Christy was just absolutely the BEST ever! I can't wait for her next visit to our city so I can do it all over again! She is so creative and never brings us the same things each time around. Always something new to learn and to develop new skills with. I love it! Here's a selfie with Christy and I! ;) <br />

<br />
I hope you enjoy my pages from this past weekend classes. I know I can't wait to practice some of these new techniques and see what I can do with them. :) Time to get creative!!! <br />

Well, this is the time of year when life gets super busy. Fall time means work conference, Thanksgiving, Halloween, staff meetings, Xmas planning at work, and overall just a busy time of year. All that translates into, not a lot of time to play! Free time is at a premium limited time and I need to take advantage of the opportunity when I can. So, when I heard that Christy was coming back to town to do another one of her awesome classes, I was all over it! A months notice allowed me to be sure to book that time off and luckily the cards played in my favor at work and I was able to take that weekend to attend her class. I was ecstatic! You have no idea! Nothing makes me do the happy dance like getting inky and playing with amazingly creative people. Fun fun fun...<br />
<br />
The weekend consisted of learning a bunch of different techniques and resulted in a lot of pages getting done. Yaaaa Baby! I have always done my art journaling in the large Dylusions book but decided to purchase and use a smaller art journal this go around and I am so glad I did. Though I love my Dylusions, the space on the page is huge and hard to fill sometimes, so unless you have a plan on how to utilize all that space it can be really intimidating and time consuming. I would spent up to a full day, 7-8 hrs, on a page till I was satisfied with it. A daunting task when time is so limited. So to be able to do an art journal page in under a couple of hours in a smaller book makes it not so challenging to find some time in an evening or weekend where I can just sit down and create something start to finish instead of in intervals like in the larger journal book. This in itself makes me a happy girl. :) This blog page is gonna be long and it's as much for me to remember the key things I learnt so I don't forget. My memory isn't so good these days. Gotta love mid age! ;)<br />
<br />
One of the first pages was using a stencil and gesso'ing thru it to create a resist. Then spraying with your choice of color sprays to create a background. Using a baby wipe, wiping the background to pick up the color from the gesso'd portions to reveal the stencil pattern. I did the Prima circles stencil and Dylusion sprays in a 3 different tones of blue. The result was a background that looked like planets and stars, and I took my inspiration from that. Then we ripped different patterned papers to create a landscape type feel. Chose our stamps and saying. Finished with some gelato's for shading. And whallah....a page is born. <br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next page was fun using the Izinks. Great! More fun stuff to buy. We gesso'd the page to start to seal the paper so we could move the ink around the page. I picked out my colors I wanted to use (bought some more colors, oh boy!) and added a few drops to the paper. Once all the color drops were down, sprayed with water and time to get inky with the fingers. Using a tapping motion I moved the colors around till I was happy with the background. LOVE! Then drew the stems with a charcoal pencil and smudged it a bit for some shading. Cut some leaves and glued them down with a matte medium and charcoaled around the edges. I found a small petal flower and stamped it on top to create a flower, but I wasn't happy with the stamp I chose, too small. So I took my black Izink and drew randomly, circles around the flower. Yup, like that much better. Added my saying. The little black dots were improvised after class cause I felt like the page was still lacking something and I wanted to use another new product I invested in called irRESISTable by Imagine. Super cool!!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
I love love love this next one we did! I need to find some BIG chipboard letters. I think I used to have some but put them into a garage sale bin... not sure if it sold or not, going to have to go hunt and see if they still exist in my life! NOTE to self.... do not sell or throw away anything cause you might come across a use for it some day! It may take years but... you will find a use eventually! LOL By laying down the letters where we wanted them we could then splatter color around it leaving a white image. After tracing the letters onto the page where the white space was we could then gesso inside the letters to white out any over/under splatter and I found any color smudged creating a cool effect. Charcoal pencil was used to shade around the letter to create dimension. I found my stamps I wanted to use and stamped them down. (Now this page is not representative of how I feel about snow... LOL) I used my water brush and some of the same color Dylusion sprays and did a light color wash over the snowflakes and the penquins toques. Then we created a border around the word to frame it in. This page is so darn cute! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ss8nhEC73PU/VGJbtTOQbII/AAAAAAAABR0/blJjNx401CQ/s1600/2162.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ss8nhEC73PU/VGJbtTOQbII/AAAAAAAABR0/blJjNx401CQ/s400/2162.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Ok, now I have to admit I altered this page a bit. Sorry Christy. The effect was really cool. I liked the technique we learnt but I felt it was too bulky for my book... so when I got home I changed it. We had taken toilet paper rolls and flattened them, cut strips and glued them down to create a pattern that we wanted. I did a wheat pattern cause it reminded me of my Dad. He was a farmer and when he passed we placed wheat sprigs on his casket. So this page is for him. Once the strips were glued down we gesso'd the entire page and the rolls and then sprayed the page and let it dry. It looked really cool! But I think I cut the strips too thick and I couldn't close my book properly and it made it harder to work on the backside of the pages because of the thickness. Soooooo... when I got home from my weekend, I took my Exacto knife and started to carefully remove the toilet paper roll strips from the page. The paper tore in some places were the glue pulled off exposing white paper that wasn't gesso'd and in other places it left glue on the paper. Kinda cool! I grabbed my matte medium and sealed over top to seal in the rough tears and exposed paper. Then I took my Fabre Castel india ink pen in a brown and ran around the wheat buds and smudged with my finger to soften the effect. I love love love how it ended up looking! So the toilet paper roll still served a purpose and created a whole different effect for me and my page that I am thrilled with! I added some stamps and a saying. The saying is multi toned because it tells me that even when you think you messed up like I did on this page, something wonderful can happen, as well as, this page being about my Dad, he guided me from above to not give up and create something wonderful. Thanks Dad! <br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Warning!!! In this next technique we learnt, paper towels were harmed in the making of this page! LOL I love this technique and all I could think was oh great,,, another reason to hoard what I would normally throw away. I need a bigger craft house. LOL So, lets see if I can remember everything I need to remember. The idea is to use that roll of colored paper towel with all that pattern from blotted off stencils and stuff and transfer it to the paper. So, you take the paper towel and separate it into a single ply and lay it down on a unprepped page. Take the matte medium and brush on the page and lay the towel on top and then brush more medium over top to transfer the color thru onto the page. Do NOT let the medium dry and once the color has started to transfer lift the paper towel off the page and the pattern and color has transferred with the texture from the paper towel onto the paper. Super cool! Then the idea was to stamp on an image with a lot of white space onto the page and gesso inside the lines to mute the colors and semi white out the inner ground. Some of the pattern and color will shine thru and create this really neat effect. A charcoal pencil was used to create crisp lines and smudging again. Then we used gelatos or paint to created shading around the images. When I got home I wasn't thrilled with where I stamped my flowers and felt it left a lopsided feel to the head and a disconnect on the opposite side. So I created a few more mini florals and painted and gesso'd to try to recreate a similar effect, cut them out and using dimensional glue dots added them where I wanted them. Yup, happier now! :) <br />

<br />
<br />
More pages to show and techniques that I need to remind myself of... so I'm going to go to a part 2 and post a second blog page on all I learnt. Once I'm done my blog pages, I think it's time to get inky and put some of these techniques into practice on my own. :) <br />
<br />
To all my Canadian friends, I am thankful for the men and women who served, sacrificed and gave us the freedom to be able to live such full lives. This Remembrance Day, is a day to be proud of those who served to keep us FREE. <br />
